Our Registered Nurse

Clinical Support You Can Trust

One of the biggest strengths of Smyth Support is having a Registered Nurse, Courtenay Smyth, as part of our team. This isn’t something you see often with smaller support providers, and it gives every client an added layer of safety, experience, and clinical oversight that truly sets us apart.

Courtenay brings years of hands-on nursing experience and is currently completing her Masters in Mental Health, which means our team is guided by someone who understands both the physical and emotional sides of care. She actively shapes the way we work — ensuring all support is safe, person-centred, and aligned with best practice.

For clients and families, this means your support isn’t happening in isolation. You’ve got someone who can see the whole picture — health changes, medication needs, risk factors, and emotional wellbeing. Whether it’s monitoring health concerns, managing complex routines, or simply needing someone who knows what to look for, having an RN on board gives you confidence that the care you’re receiving is consistent, informed, and backed by professional clinical judgement.

Why Having a Registered Nurse Matters

Choosing a support provider isn’t just about who can help around the home — it’s about trusting someone with your wellbeing. Having a Registered Nurse on the team gives you a level of safety, knowledge, and professionalism that truly protects you.

Courtenay doesn’t just “oversee” care. She makes sure every part of your support is grounded in solid clinical understanding. That means fewer gaps, fewer risks, and better outcomes.

Things can change quickly — health, mobility, mood.

An RN can spot the early signs of infection, decline, dehydration, medication issues, or mental health changes long before they become an emergency.

Most support workers aren’t trained for this — but Courtenay is.

Your support is guided by real clinical experience.

Every routine, recommendation, and decision is backed by actual nursing knowledge — not guesswork or “best attempts.” This protects you, and it gives families enormous peace of mind.

You get coordinated care, not disconnected services.

Courtenay can communicate with doctors, specialists, allied health, hospitals, and case managers in a way that ensures everyone’s on the same page.

This leads to better continuity, smoother care plans, and fewer mistakes.

Medication and health routines stay safe and consistent.

From medication prompts to complex routines, things stay structured, accurate, and aligned with clinical advice.

It strengthens every support worker on the team.

Your support isn’t just delivered — it’s clinically supported.

That means:

  • Better decision-making

  • Stronger documentation

  • Safer practices

  • Clear boundaries and processes

Your team gets backed by an RN who ensures the care provided is safe, appropriate, and person-centred.

It’s extremely rare for a small support business to offer this.

And honestly, this is one of your biggest advantages when families or coordinators are comparing providers.

Many small providers mean well, but they simply don’t have clinical backup — you do.

For families, it’s a huge relief.

They know their loved one isn’t just “being supported”…

They’re being looked after with real expertise behind the scenes

Meet Our Team

About
our company

Smyth Support was created with a simple purpose: to provide reliable, person-centred support that genuinely improves people’s day-to-day lives. We’re a local, family-run service based in Central Victoria, offering disability and aged-care support that’s grounded in dignity, respect, and real human connection.

We know that good support isn’t just about ticking tasks off a list — it’s about showing up with consistency, empathy, and a willingness to meet people where they’re at. That’s the heart of our work.

Our team is led by Jacob Smyth, an experienced support worker with a long background in operations, people management, and community service, and Courtenay Smyth, a Registered Nurse currently completing her Masters in Mental Health. Together, we bring a balanced mix of practical support, clinical insight, and genuine care.

We support NDIS participants, older Australians, and private clients with a wide range of needs — from daily living assistance and community access to personal care, domestic help, and health-related support under RN guidance. Every service we offer is built around your goals, your comfort, and your independence.

At Smyth Support, you’re not just “a client.” You’re a person with your own routines, preferences, and hopes — and we’re here to back you with consistent, safe, trustworthy support every step of the way.
