Yard & Home Maintenance

Supporting a safe, accessible, and well-maintained home environment.

Yard & Home Maintenance supports people who are unable to safely manage basic outdoor and minor household upkeep on their own. At Smyth Support, we focus on safety, accessibility, and hazard reduction — helping clients remain comfortable and independent in their own homes.

This service is available to NDIS participants, aged care clients, and private clients, where maintenance support is approved or self-funded.

If you need support to keep your home and outdoor areas safe and manageable, contact Smyth Support to arrange a free consultation and discuss your needs.

  • Yard and home maintenance is limited to low-risk, non-trade tasks that help keep the home safe and functional. Depending on individual needs and approvals, this may include:

    • Basic yard maintenance

Lawn mowing, light weeding, pruning, and garden tidying.

    • Pathways and access areas

Keeping entrances, walkways, and outdoor areas clear to reduce trip hazards.

    • Outdoor safety checks

Identifying visible hazards such as uneven paths, clutter, or overgrown areas.

    • Minor household tasks

Simple, low-risk tasks such as changing light globes or replacing batteries (where safe and appropriate).

All tasks are agreed in advance and completed within safe work practices.

  • To remain compliant with safety and insurance requirements, this service does not include:

    • Trade or licensed work (plumbing, electrical, structural repairs)

    • Heavy lifting or high-risk manual handling

    • Major landscaping, tree removal, or renovations

If a task falls outside our scope, we can help you explore appropriate referral options.

  • Before commencing services, we work with clients and their representatives to:

    • Identify priority areas for safety and accessibility

    • Confirm approved tasks and frequency

    • Assess risks and safe working conditions

    • Adjust support as needs change

Support is always delivered with respect for the client’s property, privacy, and preferences.

  • Maintaining outdoor and household areas helps:

    • Reduce fall and injury risks

    • Improve accessibility and mobility

    • Support independence at home

    • Prevent small issues from becoming safety concerns

A well-maintained environment supports both physical safety and peace of mind

  • Yard & Home Maintenance may be accessed through:

    • NDIS plans, where home and yard supports are funded

    • My Aged Care services, depending on eligibility and approvals

    • Private, self-funded arrangements

We can help clarify eligibility and guide you through the process.

  • All Smyth Support workers:

    • Follow workplace health and safety procedures

    • Work within agreed task scopes and risk assessments

    • Use appropriate equipment and PPE

    • Maintain professionalism and respect for client property

Safety always comes first — for clients and workers alike.
